Then the Pharisees went and took counsel to entangle Him in His words. They sent their disciples to Him with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God truthfully, and are swayed by no one. For You do not regard the person of men. Tell us then, what do You think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?” But Jesus perceived their wickedness and said, “Why test Me, you hypocrites? Show Me the tax money.” They brought Him a denarius. He said to them, “Whose is this image and inscription?” They said to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” When they heard these words, they were amazed, and left Him and went on their way.
Are We Abounding?
God’s economy can be summed up in one scripture that we find in 2 Corinthians. It is an absolutely amazing passage of scripture that will change your life forever once you get it into your spirit.
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
Able is from the Greek “dunatos“ which means powerful or capable.
God is powerful or capable
Make is from the Greek “perisseuo” which means to super abound in quantity or quality, to be in excess, to be extra or surplus, to be more abundant, enough and to spare, to exceed, to excel, to increase, to have over and above.
Grace is from the Greek “charis” which means Graciousness gratitude, benefit, favour, gift, joy, pleasure.
Abound is from the same Greek word as Make which means to…Super abound, in quantity or quality to exceed, to excel, to increase, to have over and above etc.
Always is from the Greek “pantote,” which means at all times.
Sufficiency is from the Greek “autarkeia” which means self-satisfaction or contentment.
So basically when we break these words up into their original meaning, this verse means this
God has the power to give; above, over, to excel, to super abound. And it is his gracious pleasure to do so That at all times, we are content and satisfied and living above, over and excelling that we may above, over, and excel, in every good work that we may be in a position to help others, to give, to minister
